Who We Are
Overview
For more than 40 years, The Philadelphia Center has offered college students a semester of experiential education; a unique hands-on program geared toward professional, academic, and personal growth in an active urban environment. Students earn a full semester of academic credit from Hope College, our managing institution, for participating in the program’s three central components: 32 hours per week of work at an internship, two courses, and independent city living.
At The Philadelphia Center, you will work closely with faculty and staff to choose a career-building internship and an independent living arrangement just right for you. Seminars at The Philadelphia Center provide insight into professional and urban life. Our courses are designed to help you get the most not only from your workplace, but also from the rich history, culture, and events Philadelphia has to offer. Throughout the semester, you will tailor the program to fit your interests and needs. At The Philadelphia Center, experiential education means that you influence and direct your learning.
