Who We Are

Rosina S. Miller

Rosina S. Miller is Executive Director of The Philadelphia Center. A long-time employee of TPC, Rosina began as a Program Coordinator in 1991 and became a Faculty Advisor in 1994, teaching seminars based in performance studies and folklore. Rosina’s particular interests lie in issues of urban culture, performance, and education. She is a co-founder of the Independence Charter School, a community-oriented elementary school that offers an internationally focused curriculum and the city’s first Spanish immersion program. Beginning with the school’s inception in 2001, Rosina served on its Board of Trustees for 9 years, holding positions of Secretary, Treasurer, and President. Rosina holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania, an interdisciplinary M.L.A. in Performance Studies, also from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in English from Temple University. Previously, Rosina worked in publishing and editing and has served as a judge for the fiction contest of the GLCA New Writers Award. Rosina lives in Center City with her husband and two children.
