Our Value
TPC offers students independent urban living, a unique placement process, substantial internship learning, unique seminars, and a chance to live and study in one of the most culturally diverse, vibrant, and affordable cities in the world.
Independent Urban Living: Through our guided housing process, participating students find their own place to live in one of Philadelphia’s many diverse and dynamic neighborhoods. Dubbed “the real world with training wheels” by alumni, this component of our program offers students a rewarding opportunity to develop independent living skills and gain confidence for life after graduation.
Placement Process: TPC’s unique placement process helps students find the right internships to fit their professional goals. With over 800 internships available for almost any major from accounting to zoology, our process allows students to work with our full-time faculty advisors, do research in our placement database, interview at a variety of organizations, and then choose an internship opportunity right for them.
The Internship: Students work closely with TPC’s faculty advisors who help ensure that each participant has a substantial learning experience during their internship. Through the use of learning plans, portfolios, and on-site meetings, TPC’s faculty advisors provide one-on-one guidance throughout the semester so each student can receive the maximum benefit of participating in our program.
Seminars: At TPC, academics play a critical and integral role in the student experience. Students are engaged by our full-time faculty advisors, who teach city seminars and closely advise students, and our adjunct faulty members, who teach elective seminars.
The City: Philadelphia is one of the most culturally diverse, vibrant, and affordable cities in the world, making it a unique and dynamic learning environment for our program. Over the years, many TPC alumni have enjoyed living in Philadelphia so much that they have returned to live, work, or go to graduate school here.
