SEMESTER (FALL OR SPRING) PROGRAM - BUDGET INFORMATION
The Philadelphia Center’s tuition is based on that of Hope College, our managing institution, and is $14,275 per semester for the 2013-14 year, which includes the cost of temporary housing during orientation week*, books and activity fees. Please note that the cost of transportation to and from Philadelphia is not included in the tuition. Unless special arrangements are made, Hope College will bill each student’s school directly for our tuition. Prior to submitting their applications students should also schedule time to meet with their financial aid office.
Please note that living expenses are the responsibility of each student and will vary from student to student. Since students do not pay for room and board on campus, they can apply those funds to the cost of living in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia is one of the most affordable cities on the East Coast. Many students find they spend less on rent and groceries than they would on room and board on their home campuses. With so many entertainment options and easy access to cities on the East Coast, students should consider setting aside money for weekend excursions and activities. Our program allows students the freedom and flexibility to create a budget that best fits each student’s needs.
The results of a recent survey from students involved in our program are below and highlight just how affordable living in Philadelphia can be!

Please note: Nearly all realtors will require at least first and last month’s rent and a security deposit upon lease signing. This deposit is usually equal to one month’s rent divided by the number of roommates. The figures above do not reflect security deposit, nor do they include utility or telephone deposits, all of which are refunded at the end of the semester - provided no damage or additional charges have been incurred. *Based on four students per room at a local hotel.
