City Seminars
City Seminars meet once a week during the day and are taught by our full-time faculty advisors, who help you integrate the learning that occurs in your internship, the city, and the classroom. Sharing these perspectives facilitates dialogue within the group as you explore and critique course subject matter, field placements, and urban experiences – the three central components of the program.
Each member of The Philadelphia Center’s full-time faculty is both a seminar leader and faculty advisor for the students in his or her City Seminar. This arrangement facilitates the advisory component of the program and gives you and faculty different forums for knowing and interacting with each other.
The Philadelphia Center offers the following three City Seminars:
- Education at Work: Sites of Learning - Diana Waters
- Power and Authority - Mark Andrew Clark
- Urban Political and Social Systems, Issues and Practices - Deborah Leibel
